KBShimmer Winter 2014 Collection

Hi readers! Today I have six polishes from the upcoming KBShimmer Winter 2014 collection to share with you as well as two new cuticle oil pen scents! There is a TON of exciting stuff in this collection. In addition to the 11 new winter shades, 5 previous holiday polishes are being brought back, as well as a new Toys For Tots polish, a special gift with purchase holiday polish, 4 new cuticle oil pens, and holiday themed nail decals! I'm telling you, there's lots of good stuff.

"Turnip The Beet" - This cranberry jelly base is filled with red, magenta, and purple hexes in several sizes. It's a texture polish so it definitely has some texture when it dries, although it's not sandy or gritty like other texture polishes can be. It honestly seems like a super full coverage glitter. These photos show three coats.

For this last picture of "Turnip the Beet" I'm showing it with one coat of KBShimmer "Clearly On Top" top coat.

"Dressed to Gild" - This clear-based texture polish is full of gold, lavender, and lime green holographic hexes in several sizes. Out of the three new texture polishes I reviewed, this one is definitely the most sparkly! These photos show just two coats.

Again this last photo shows "Dressed to Gild" with one coat of KBShimmer top coat.

"Too Cold To Hold" - This last texture polish has a blue jelly base is totally packed with holographic blue, green, silver, and pink holographic hexes in several sizes. The variety of colors in this one make it totally interesting. These photos show two coats.

Like above, this last photo of "Too Cold To Hold" shows what it looks like with one coat of top coat.

"Fallen Angle" - This bright royal blue jelly base is filled with several sizes of silver holographic hexes and blue holographic triangles. Suuuper squishy looking! These photos show three thin coats plus top coat. I think you might be able to get away with two thicker coats!

"Let's Sleigh Together" - This pale gray base is filled with hexes in bright green, mint, and silver, as well as small and medium royal blue circles. I love that this base leans between super light gray and white because somehow it seems more flattering. These photos show three coats plus top coat.

"Flake Dance" - This clear based topper is full of several sizes of silver holographic hexes as well as large silver holographic snowflake glitters. This shows one heavy coat with some placement of the snowflakes on top of Orly "Snowcone." I considered showing this on top of KBShimmer "Mint-al Vacation" (trust me, it looks amazing) but I wanted to let the sparkle of this topper shine on its own first. I'll totally be trying that combination out sometime in December, though!

Along with the gorgeous new polishes, I received two of the new cuticle oil pen scents. I chose peppermint and raspberry vanilla. Both come in a brush-tip pen and have a twist-up bottom to release product into the bristles. The peppermint scent is very strong and minty, similar to the scent of Altoids mints. I found that once it has time to sit on your cuticles for a few minutes you actually start to smell some sweeter notes as well. The raspberry vanilla scent is both sweet and tart at the same time. To me it honestly smells just like cranberry Sierra Mist soda! Both are super moisturizing and seemed to sink in nicely without leaving my nails greasy or anything.

My  thoughts? There is definitely something in this collection for everyone! Texture, sparkle, and holiday-themed goodness makes for plenty of choices. I appreciate holiday collections, but particularly love them when most of those polishes can also be worn all year long. I usually prefer silver over gold, but I can't wait to wear "Dressed to Gild" to a Christmas party or something!

So yeah! All of these goodies I've reviewed along with the rest of the winter collection, five returning holiday polishes (I own a few of them, so I'll show you those soon), 2 more new cuticle oil pens, and decals will be available on the KBShimmer website on November 1st. There will also be some exciting promos starting in November! Also don't forget that "Spot Sign" is part of this winter collection, but was released early and is already available to purchase!

  3. Love the photos. Nicely done. I like the base coat for Flake Dance. Is it really a Periwinkle or is it more blue? I'll have to look for it. Thanks.
