KBShimmer Fall 2015 Collection

PRESS SAMPLE

If you saw my post yesterday then you've already seen some bottle shots of the KBShimmer Fall 2015 Collection. Well today's post has all the nail swatches!

Such a Vlad-Ass

"Such a Vlad-Ass" - A darkened berry-red creme. It leans more berry than this in the bottle, but either a) it applies more red on the nail because it's less saturated than it appears in the bottle or b) my camera just wanted it to look more red! I manually white balance my camera before I shoot each time and even that didn't seem to help. I had some visible nail line at two coats, but a third coat made it perfect.

Teal It to My Heart

"Teal It to My Heart" - A medium teal creme. This is probably my new favorite teal of all time. Super creamy, very easy to apply, self-leveling, and almost a one-coater. I used two for these swatches.

Breaking Blues

"Breaking Blues" - A darkish periwinkle blue. At first glance I thought it might be similar to Sally Hansen "Pacific Blue" but this one is lighter and more dusty. This one also had a great formula and was opaque with two easy coats.

Soul Deep

"Soul Deep" - A deep and inky blue-purple creme. At full opacity it looks more like a midnight blue, but as you apply it you can tell it has a lot of purple in it. This one has a great formula as well. I used two coats for these photos.

I Feel Gourd-geous

"I Feel Gourd-geous" - A warm gold full coverage microglitter. The glitter particles in this one are square, while most other microglitters I've seen use hex glitters. I'm not sure if this contributed, but I found application to be awesome! I used three coats for full coverage and the finish was nice and smooth, even before top coat. No lumpy application here!

Open Toad Shoes

"Open Toad Shoes" - A khaki crelly filled with yellow, blue, and brown hexes in a variety of different sizes. Not gonna lie, I hated this in the bottle! But I have to say I totally changed my opinion once I saw it on the nail. It almost comes off as a neutral on me and the combination of colors really works somehow. I only needed two easy coats for what you see here.

Talk Qwerty to Me

"Talk Qwerty to Me" - A teal jelly filled with flakies that shift between teal and green. I adore the finished appearance of this polish because it almost looks like a metallic finish without the brush strokes. That said, I did need five coats for the opacity you see here. If you have short nails you could probably get away with three to four, but I have pretty visible nail lines so I used more.

I've Seen Sweater Days

"I've Seen Sweater Days" - A dusty sky blue crelly filled with dark blue, teal, light blue, and silver holographic hexes in several sizes. The formula on this one was excellent and applied super smoothly. What you see here is three very thin coats.

Be Scareful

"Be Scareful" - A white crelly base filled with orange and black hexes, dots, triangles, stars, and shards. Personally I don't love shards, but they're alright in this one mixed sparsely among the other glitters. I needed three coats for what you see here. Also, the base on this one glows in the dark!

Be Scareful

I tried for a good fifteen minutes to capture a photo of this polish glowing, but I just could not get one. I actually recorded a ten second video (above) and you can see how quickly the glow effect fades. I tried charging it under my normal lamp and a gel polish lamp, but neither seemed to make a difference. It might be that it lasts longer when charged with sunlight, but I'm not sure.

Dark & Twisty

"Dark & Twisty" - A black jelly base filled with a rainbow of small metallic hexes. I just have to squee and flail for a second because this is a polish I've imagined in my head for years! I'm so ridiculously excited to see that someone made a polish like this. The opacity of the base is perfect because it's not so dark that it covers up the glitters. I used three coats but I almost got away with just two.

Carpe Denim

"Carpe Denim" - A squishy navy jelly base filled with several sizes of silver holographic hexes. This, my friends, is glitter-filled jelly perfection. Super easy application and beautiful coverage at just two coats. It looks like a starry sky!

Fig-Get About It

"Fig-Get About It" - A warm plum linear holographic. So appropriate for autumn! I think this might be one of the strongest linear holographics I've ever seen from KBShimmer! I used three thin coats but I think it could be opaque with two thicker coats.

My opinion: Ithink this collection is a great transition from summer to fall and also has some excellent core colors when it comes to the cremes. There's a great variety of finishes ranging from crellies filled with glitter, cremes, micro glitter, shimmery flakes, holographic, and some squishy glitter-filled jellies. Honestly, there's something for everyone here! If I had to pick my top three they would be "Teal it to My Heart." "Dark & Twisty," & "Carpe Denim." Which ones are on your list?

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Ohhh, I Feel Gourd-geous is much prettier on the nail than I had anticipated! I might need that one, too. And Be Scareful GLOWS! Ungh.
